Listing Items - Top-performing sellers prioritize quality over quantity by focusing on higher-value items that attract serious buyers. Instead of flooding the platform with low-value listings, they bundle similar items into curated lots to boost visibility and perceived value. For instance, rather than listing each clothing item separately, group them into a themed lot—like “Men’s Fall Wardrobe” or “Vintage Tees”—and set a reserve price to protect your minimum. This approach not only streamlines the buyer experience but also encourages competitive bidding and faster sales
Setting Reserve Price - To set effective reserve prices, start by identifying the minimum amount you'd feel good about receiving—factoring in effort, fees, and item value. Base your reserve on actual market data, not original retail or sentimental worth. Keep reserves modest to encourage bidding momentum, and if bundling items into a lot, use tiered logic: the more valuable or curated the lot, the higher the reserve. Whether visible or hidden, your reserve should protect your bottom line without discouraging buyer engagement.
We encourage all potential buyers to read the listing and review the entirety of the comments for details of the item and insights offered by members of the community. Questions can be asked via the comments section or the potential buy can schedule a preview of the item with the seller, and we recommend to do so prior to placing a bid on larger cost items.
You can create a buyer account on our Signup page. You will be asked to verify your identity and physical address. You will also receive an email asking you to verify your email address, and doing so is required in order to place a bid. If you don’t see the email, make sure to check that it didn’t errantly wind up in your spam or junk folder.
Use the make an offer button on the events page. The maximum offer feature allows you to set the highest amount you're willing to offer for an item. Once set, our system automatically increases your offer on your behalf up to your maximum amount, helping you secure items without constantly monitoring the event.

Local Lots is built around local connections.
Buyers and sellers coordinate pickup times directly, making it easy to exchange items within the community. While you're welcome to arrange shipping outside the platform, it's done at your own risk — Local Lots does not facilitate or guarantee those transactions.
For larger items, we’ll soon be rolling out a local pickup assistance service to help buyers who need an extra hand.
Local Lots uses PayPal as it's primary payment processor. PayPal provides the most secure transaction method allowing buyers make their payment upon event closing and holding this transaction to the seller until confirmation of pickup.

We do not allow sellers or anyone associated with them to make an offer on their own listing, and any such behavior is strictly prohibited. We have tools in place that monitor bidding and the user accounts from which offers are placed to ensure this doesn’t happen. However, you can adjust your reserve or pricing if needed (see below)..
